Originating in the early 1980s, the pop dance craze took the country by storm. Thanks to the likes of Michael Jackson and Madonna, a pop music and dance culture was formed that continued well into the 1990s and beyond. While it has tailed off a little bit, artists and performers like Justin Timberlake and Usher have brought back the craze, but diehards will tell you it never stopped. Check out these Atlanta venues where you can experience pop dancing until the wee hours of the morning.

CosmoLava
45 13th St. N.E.
Atlanta, GA 30309
(404) 873-6189
www.cosmolava.com
CosmoLava is one of the original clubs in Atlanta and even though it has changed a little over the years, it’s still “the place” for many that like to take in the Atlanta club and pop club scene. It’s upscale, but you won’t feel out of place. It’s really two clubs in one, so try out both Cosmo and Lava and see which one fits your needs on a particular night. Try the patio at Cosmo for some open-air relaxing and then venture into Lava for music, bars and dancing. It’s two modern clubs in one, but that is what makes it fun.

Hole In the Wall
3177 Peachtree Rd. N.E., Suite #101
Atlanta, GA 30305
(404) 233-9801
www.
A favorite dance spot of Georgia State, Georgia Tech and Emory students, Hole In the Wall is located right on Peachtree Street in Buckhead. Great DJs, inexpensive drinks and competent bartenders make this a destination bar and club, even for tourists. The dance area is huge but packed on the weekends. The music is pop and retro, but a little club-like later in the evening. Still, there is something for everyone and if you are a 20-something or like hanging with the college set, this is your place to dance the night away.
